The Fellows Projects
Projects are planned, developed, and executed in teams, and with the help of industry experts. Each project focuses on the individual interests and concerns of
the project team, in consultation with, and with the support of the Fellowship Directors and the Fellowship Subcommittee.
The way we source, consume and get rid of our food is increasingly problematic for the environment.
Neta Experiences offers full day immersive tours to gain a comprehensive understanding of food sustainability in Melbourne.
From urban farms, to waste-free grocery stores, foodwaste organisations and sustainably-organised homes, Neta Experiences will both invigorate and inform our customers.
2021 Fellow Project
We are a small, dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about going beyond ‘closing the gap’. The wider Australian population has not demanded the same educational standards for its First Nations counterparts, yet the onus to ‘close the gap’ is disproportionately placed on First Nations peoples. We believe there is a deep value in reciprocity. The idea of a ‘gap’ speaks to a divide, whereas a loop’ indicates shared responsibility.
It acknowledges that there is a lack in non-Indigenous understanding of First Nations cultures, values and issues.
At YEP, we seek to promote reciprocal learning, mutual understanding and shared accountability. As such, we foster the process of closing the loop.
2021 Fellow Project
Our aim is to increase the number of First Nations students finishing high school, whilst improving non-Indigenous Australians’ understanding of and sensitivity towards First Nations cultures, values and issues.
(HEIM) is a project that endeavours to increase community awareness and involvement with homelessness issues in Victoria, and aims to provide a space for existing organisations to collaborate in reaching a wider audience.
As homelessness rates continue to increase, we need to be tackling the issues of homelessness head-on.
HEIM is coordinated by a small team of passionate and engaged young people, whose goal is to construct a fun and
informative atmosphere where the public can engage with these issues, harness the information that is being provided to them, and take their involvement further with the plethora of fantastic organisations that already exist.

Only half of young Australians aged 15-25 think they have a handle on managing their finances (Findex 2021). 50% of Aussies aged 15-25 say they have limited to no recollection of any formal financial education at school (Ibid. 2021).
With an increasingly uncertain economic landscape, young Australians are ill-equipped to secure their financial futures.
Each week we’ll address a different finance topic on social media (think: investing, super, tax, budgeting, saving, banking etc.). We’ll provide both general information and practical tips.

Babel is a project that brings people together in order to help them have better conversations.
The group identified that our political landscape is getting increasingly polarised and that people are losing the capacity to connect with one another, particularly when speaking about the issues they most care about.
The group will facilitate workshops that give participants the skills to have more productive conversations.

Woman Up was created by Mandy Calmonson and Nurfar Gofman in 2019.
‘Woman Up’ is a social impact project supported by the Susan Wakil Fellowship. Our video series interviews Australian women in politics, highlighting their achievements, challenges and hopes for reform.
They will be releasing a series of interviews with some inspiring politicians from all sides of politics and providing these women with a platform to share their stories and highlight their achievements.
We want to tackle the institutional and social challenges women face when entering politics, while also discussing suggestions for reform.

Floodlight podcast was created by Zehava Heinrich, Erin Gordon and Jeremy Estrin in 2018.
Floodlight is the passion project of three people; one 5th year student and two graduates. We want to explore the perceptions people hold, both young and old, towards topics of emerging interest in our melting pot of a world. From funny to deadly, no topic is beyond discussion, dissection and debunking. Floodlight is a conversation, a podcast, that seeks to shine a light on the unspoken and ignored.
